Bosque et al. (2000) documented that in an endemicarea of ACL in Colombia, the diameter of MST-positive induration was significantly higheramong individuals with asymptomatic infection than those with clinical infection.Furthermore, linear regression analyses revealed a strong direct relationship between theproduction of IFN-g, TNF-α and IL-10 by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) amongindividuals with asymptomatic infection but not in those with clinical infection. Here, IFNG is linked to infection.
