The interaction between the host eIF4E and VPg is required for viral infection, and the interaction between these two proteins has been shown for several potyviruses (Léonard et al., 2000; Schaad et al., 2000; Kang et al., 2005b; Beauchemin et al., 2007; Roudet-Tavert et al., 2007; Yeam et al., 2007; Charron et al., 2008; Gallois et al., 2010; Mazier et al., 2011; Estevan et al., 2014).
