In fact, IL-6, IL-1β, and MIP-1α levels were higher in the temporal cortex than in the hippocampus, and TNF-α showed no regional or epilepsy-related differences, though levels in entorhinal cortex may have been lower than either the hippocampus or temporal cortex (see Additional file 2: Figure S2S).
