RELA is a subunit of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) heterodimer, which is a transcription factor that can be activated by various stimuli, such as hypoxia, bacterial and viral infections, and proinflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL1β, and which plays significant roles in immune response, inflammation, apoptosis, and cellular proliferation [16,17]. This evidence concerns the gene RELA and viral infectious disease.
