DDX56 and neoplasm: DDX3 is a highly conserved member of the Ded1/DDX3 subfamily of DEAD-box RNA helicases that harbors ATPase and RNA helicase activities.24 Functionally, DDX3 appears to be one of the most multifaceted helicases with various roles in all steps of RNA metabolism.24 DDX3 is also implicated in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, cell signaling, tumor progression or suppression, and viral infection.40, 41 Few reports demonstrated a role of DDX3 members in the response to stress and apoptosis.
