This finding indicates that Lcn2 in macrophages is crucial for preventing the development of colitis in IL-10 deficient mice, although the incompletely attenuated colitis in IL-10KO-derived TEPMs-transferred Lcn2/IL-10 DKO mice suggested that Lcn2 from other origins, including colonic epithelial cells, could also be involved in the development of colitis. This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and colitis.
