Recently, several studies suggested that high glucose (HG), a characteristic of T2DM, acts as a metabolic trigger of NLRP3 inflammasome in various cell types, including cardiomyocytes, adipose tissue and pancreatic islet cells8, 9, 10, therefore this confirmed the importance of NLRP3 inflammasome in the development of T2DM. Here, NLRP3 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
