This protein, known as PICALM (phosphatidylinositol binding clathrin assembly protein), is abundantly expressed in brain capillary endothelium (Baig et al., 2010; Parikh et al., 2014), and has been linked to AD in recent genome wide association studies (Harold et al., 2009; Tanzi, 2012; Lambert et al., 2013).
