TXNIP and steatosis: Liver sections graded using a previously described method for hepatocellular steatosis (Burgess et al., 2011) revealed that WT mice on the FSD scored significantly worse compared to mice on the RD (n = 5, p<0.001), indicating more liver fat content and steatosis; the severity of steatosis was significantly reduced in Txnip-KO mice on the FSD ([p<0.001] [Figure 3e]).
