Independent risk factors for mortality in multivariate analysis were high NGAL concentrations at admission (OR 2.87 (95 % CI 1.44–5.72)), initial non-shockable rhythm (OR 4.11 (95 % CI 1.99–8.53)), presence of AKI (OR 2.86 (95 % CI 1.43–5.74)) and high SOFA score at admission (OR 3.28 (95 % CI 1.43–7.50)). This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and acute kidney injury.
