Acromegaly is caused by hypersecretion of growth hormone (GH), which leads to increased levels of circulating insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) [10], and Cushing’s disease arises from chronic hypercortisolism associated with oversecretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) [11].
