As a result of the overlap of symptoms with those of other conditions such as sleep apnoea syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, hyperhidrosis, hypertension, and cardiac disease (arrhythmias, left ventricular hypertrophy, and diastolic dysfunction), IGF-1 levels should be tested in patients without the typical features of acromegaly but who have symptoms of these conditions [10, 42, 43]. This evidence concerns the gene IGF1 and cardiac arrhythmia.
