In the healthy UK subjects the score was significantly associated with higher LDL-cholesterol, which reflects the inclusion of SNPs in several genes involved in LDL-cholesterol metabolism (APOB, PCSK9, APOE, CETP) and, not surprisingly for a genetic instrument, with higher family history of CHD, which has previously been shown to be an independent risk factor for CHD in this cohort [12] and many others [21, 22]. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and coronary artery disorder.
