The BLOC-1 subunit dysbindin encoded by the gene DTNBP1 is a risk factor for schizophrenia (SZ) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD; Tang et al., 2009; Greenwood et al., 2011; Di Benedetto et al., 2013); indeed, the dysbindin levels are lower in the brains of individuals with SZ (Talbot et al., 2004). This evidence concerns the gene DTNBP1 and schizophrenia.
