At least two aspects of selective 5-LO inhibitors concerning the inhibition of LTB4 synthesis deserve further investigation: their effects on AHR in patients with asthma [54,55], that is slightly affected by CysLT1 antagonists [4]; the potential efficacy of 5-LO inhibitors in rhinitis and rhinopolyposis as these drugs are very effective in reducing nasal symptoms in patients with ASA [54]. This evidence concerns the gene ALOX5 and rhinitis.
