Finally, Freiberger et al. tested the effect of a triple blockade of the renin-angiotensin-system in a patient affected by recurrent focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) after kidney transplantation: they found a significant and sustained antiproteinuric effect under triple RAS blockade, and conclude that RAS blockade was generally well tolerated and can offer a new therapeutic approach in selected hypertensive patients with recurrent FSGS [31]. The gene discussed is REN; the disease is focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
