We and others have previously reported, that mice of the autoimmune-prone non-obese diabetic (NOD) strain with deficiency in the costimulatory molecules B7-2 [15] and intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1 [16] spontaneously develop chronic inflammation and demyelination of peripheral nerves and constitute potential animal models of CIDP. Here, ICAM1 is linked to chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy.
