LEP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: Since liver fibrosis is shown to be six times more prevalent in obese patients as compared with general population 1, 2 and obesity is often accompanied by hyperleptinaemia 3, 4, the effects of leptin, an adipocyte‐derived hormone, on liver fibrogenesis are investigated and evidences indicate a unique role of leptin in promoting liver fibrogenesis in vitro and in vivo5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
