MAPT and supranuclear palsy, progressive, 1: Our results are consistent with neuropathologial studies showing that the basal ganglia nuclei, thalamus, and the midbrain are heavily affected by tau pathology early in the disease development of PSP.16 However, although the retention of 18F‐AV‐1451 is significantly increased in PSP, there is an overlap in PET SUVR values in the globus pallidus between PSP patients and controls, which reduces the clinical use of 18F‐AV‐1451 PET as a diagnostic tool in the diagnostic work‐up of PSP.
