CCL2 and asthma: Overall, our data indicate that plasma MCP-1 levels associate selectively with a wide range of inflammatory cytokines/chemokines, growth/activation factors and could, therefore, be important as a biomarker for asthma in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects while this association of plasma MCP-1 with asthma appears to be driven by the conventional risk factors for inflammation and pulmonary tissue remodeling.
