In breast cancer, we have demonstrated that FOXC1 plays a role in proliferation in BRCA1-mutant BLBC cells, and prior studies have demonstrated a critical role for FOXC1 in the functional properties of BLBC, driving metastasis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition phenotype, and tumorigenesis [12, 36–39]. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
