Here, we use longitudinal Env sequences from a clade C-infected donor, CAP256, to determine the change in glycan shield composition and the abundance of oligomannose-type glycans in the intrinsic mannose patch over the course of HIV infection and to relate these changes to variable-loop length, frequency of PNGSs, and neutralization sensitivity by a panel of HIV bnAbs. The gene discussed is ERVW-1; the disease is HIV infectious disease.
