The TF GATA3, which is crucial not only for T cell survival and commitment in early stages but also for the transition to the DP state in later stages (Yui and Rothenberg, 2014), was not hypermethylated in ALK− ALCL, and there was no expression difference when compared to CD3+ T cells, corresponding to the DNA methylation phenotype of ALK− ALCL tumors that more closely resemble the DP stage of thymic development. This evidence concerns the gene ALK and anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
