Briefly, the aim was to develop a neuroimaging platform to assess candidate brain pathways underpinning addiction and relapse using appropriate fMRI tasks, and assessing their modulation by different pharmacological challenges (antagonists of Dopamine Receptor D3 (DRD3), μ-opioid receptors and Neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptors) in alcohol, heroin and cocaine addiction. Here, DRD3 is linked to cocaine dependence.
