CD36 and influenza: A recent study utilising whole-genome microarrays has analysed the response of alveolar macrophages to influenza infection and has demonstrated a decrease in the gene expression of Dectin-1 (CLEC7A), Macrophage Scavenger Receptor (MSR)-1, CD206 (aka Mannose Receptor C 1) and CD36, which correlated with an inability of the macrophages to phagocytose zymosan [10].
