As it was previously reported a correlation between α‐SMA staining and survival for oral and tongue tumours 8, 9, 10, 11, but not for other sites of mouth 23 and head and neck, we analysed separately HNSCC at other sites and found that there was a correlation between the pattern of α‐SMA staining at tumour front and survival for other sites of HNSCC than tongue (Fig. 4D). The gene discussed is ACTA1; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
