One ligand, [18F]T807 (also known as AV1451), has a high affinity and selectivity for tau over amyloid-β peptide (Aβ)26 and has demonstrated utility in revealing tauopathy in a variety of pathologies, including AD, frontotemporal dementia and CTE.27, 28, 29 We have previously reported the case of a 71-year-old retired National Football League (NFL) player with suspected CTE and a brain PET scan showing [18F]T807/AV1451 retention in the globus pallidus, putamen, substantia nigra and hippocampus. Here, MAPT is linked to tauopathy.
