It has been suggested that these endogenous TLR4 ligands are important for the vicious loop during chronic inflammation9, 10, 11 and hence TLR4 is linked to the pathogenesis of several autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, Atherosclerosis, and autoimmune diabetes12, 13, 14. This evidence concerns the gene TLR4 and rheumatoid arthritis.
