In the NNM model, representing chemical hepatocarcinogenesis without contemporary liver cirrhosis, selective EGFR inhibition by Gefitinib diminished hepatocarcinogenesis at the level of initiation (early time points) and progression (later time points), as the volume fraction of pre-neoplastic liver lesions and HCAs and the number of HCC were reduced. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
