The prognostic role of hematocrit and BUN for the prediction of severe acute pancreatitis has been well established.[5, 30] Being an important marker for inflammation, CRP serum levels higher than 15 mg/dl turned out to be a useful prognostic tool to predict severity of pancreatitis 48h after admission.[31, 32] In this study there was no association of CRP serum levels with complications in necrotising pancreatitis. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and acute pancreatitis.
