Chromosomal breaks of the HMGA2 locus have been described in several benign mesenchymal tumors including lipomas and uterine leiomyomas [13, 14], and HMGA2 amplification was shown in several soft tissue malignancies including liposarcomas where it is almost always co-amplified with MDM2 [9, 15]. This evidence concerns the gene HMGA2 and liposarcoma.
