Lysyl Oxidase Like 2 (LOXL2), a member of the LOX family, facilitates ECM remodeling [14], induces epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) [17, 18] and has been shown to be hypoxia-regulated in fibroblasts and renal tubular epithelial cells [19], and plays an important role in generation of the pathologic stroma that constitutes the tumor microenvironment, ultimately leading to a more aggressive disease [14, 20].
