We found that siRNA-mediated knockdown of ASK1 expression in PANC1 cells inhibited the expression of cyclin E, but not cyclin D (Supplementary Figure S3), suggesting that ASK1 might promote pancreatic cancer development by upregulating cyclin E. Additionally, inflammation might be involved in the tumor-promoting effects of ASK1 in pancreatic cancer. This evidence concerns the gene MAP3K5 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
