To test whether the decrease in MDSCs in cKO mice and diminished anti-inflammatory arginase-1 expression (compare to Fig 9) was associated with increased liver fibrosis, we first had to determine whether FN deletion takes place in the liver, because we had shown that deletion of FN in the liver using the Mx-promoter leads to enhanced fibrosis due to increased transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) [44].
