When local response was assessed by the number of viable tumor cells in the surgical specimens, a significant correlation was found: moderate to high expression of FGFR4 was observed in 78.3% of the weakly or non-responsive cases, but in only 21.7% of responsive patients (Table 2; p = 0.03 by χ2-test).
