RPS5 and viral infectious disease: The observations that the expression of several genes, categorized into ‘response to wounding’, were diminished in CaLecRK-S.5-silenced plants (Supplementary Fig. S6A) and that CaLecRK-S.5-overexpressing plants showed stronger activation of MAPK and ROS burst upon wounding stress (Supplementary Fig. S4) suggest that CaLecRK-S.5 confers sensitivity to wounding stress and that this sensitivity could increase resistance to virus infection.
