RT-PCR analysis with similar amounts of RNA (60 ng) isolated from the same amount of blood extracted from similar infected blood parasitemia (~1%) confirmed that the transcription levels of PanK1 and PanK2 and other unrelated genes are similar in Pyp230p(−) parasites compared to WT parasites (Supplementary Figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene PANK2 and parasitic infectious disease.
