SASH1 mRNA and protein levels are also reduced in breast cancer compared to matching normal mammary epithelia [2, 14], with one study suggesting that promoter hypermethylation correlates with repression [14], but the expression and prognostic significance of SASH1 have not yet been investigated in breast tumour cohorts with appreciable clinical annotation or statistical power.
