Regarding gender, age, T status, LNR, adjuvant therapy, tumour size, and resection radicality, the biomarkers that were independently associated with adverse prognosis in multivariate analysis were low albumin (< 36 g/L, p = 0.011), elevated CRP (> 5 mg/L, p = 0.036), CEA (> 5 μg/L, p = 0.047), and CA19-9, but the latter only when elevated 15-fold above its reference limit (≥ 555 kU/L, p = 0.008) (Table 4).
