Overall, the data from the LTC‐IC studies showed the CD34+CD38−CLEC12A+ to possess self renewal properties and that these particular cells are 100% malignant when evaluated by FISH for known cytogenetic aberrancies, adding support to the concept of CLEC12A as a marker of malignant CSC subsets in MDS. The gene discussed is CD34; the disease is myelodysplastic syndrome.
