Overall, a general under-expression profile of the DA neuron associated genes in PD substantia nigra is confirmed also by TRAM analysis (e.g.: TH, SLC6A3, DDC, EN1, see S6 Table), compatible with the neuron loss, suggesting that the over-expressed genes could act as moderator of the under-expression of specific genes related to PD and thus contribute to a neurodegenerative-resistant phenotype. This evidence concerns the gene DDC and Parkinson disease.
