While IFN-γ has been shown to be directly and indirectly involved in the recruitment of neutrophils and inflammatory macrophages (two major FcR-bearing populations present during chlamydial infection) in a variety of infection settings (25, –, 28), we showed in the current study that immune cell recruitment is not negatively impacted by the absence of IFN-γ during C. muridarum genital infection. Here, IFNG is linked to chlamydia trachomatis infectious disease.
