Tumor cells are capable of releasing various cytokines (reviewed in [41,42,43]), including interleukin-1 (IL-1), IL-6, IL-10, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF), macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) [44,45,46,47].
