MTOR and cancer: The abnormal activation of mTOR pathway has been demonstrated in many cancers [6–8]; the activated mTORC1 promotes the phosphorylation of p70S6K (p-p70S6K) and the releasing of phosphorylated eukaryotic elongation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) binding protein 1 (4EBP1) from eIF4E, which ultimately result in enhanced translation of genes that are required for cell growth.
