CRP and Insulin resistance: The presence of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR > 2) was previously related to an increased odds ratio of 1.54 (95% CI 0.91–2.62) for coronary artery disease and elevated CRP (hs-CRP > 3 mg/L) was associated with odds ratios of 1.46 (95% CI 1.05–2.04) for cardiovascular disease and 3.12 (95% CI 1.77–5.48) for type 2 diabetes [38], [39], [40].
