Our colleagues (including several co-authors on this manuscript) have shown that S100 proteins are C-MYC/BRCA1 co-regulated genes in which BRCA1 represses transcription through a C-MYC dependent mechanism and expression of these proteins, most notably S100A7, is strongly upregulated in BRCA1 mutant breast cancer cells [71]. This evidence concerns the gene S100A7 and breast carcinoma.
