We previously reported that pharmacological blockage of antioxidant pathways responsible for the detoxification of ROS, using buthionine sulfoximine (BSO), a specific inhibitor of the rate-limiting enzyme in GSH synthesis γ-glutamylcysteine ligase [21], Auranofin, an inhibitor of thioredoxin reductase, a key enzyme in the antioxidant thioredoxin pathway [3], or Erastin can prime ALL cells for Smac mimetic-induced cell death [16, 22]. This evidence concerns the gene TXN and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
