LASP1 and prostate carcinoma: Since a correlation between LASP1 overexpression and worse patient outcome has not only been described in bladder [28, 49] and prostate cancer [19, 50] but also in ovarian cancer [51], medulloblastoma [23], colon cancer [21], esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [52], kidney cancer [53], and liver cancer [20], it is tempting to speculate that up-regulation of MMP expression and secretion by enhanced LASP1 concentrations is a major factor in tumor aggressivity.
