genome-wide association studies have suggested that several other DGK isozymes are associated with diseases and medical conditions as follows: DGKγ: asthma (rs11706414, s888383) and obesity (rs7647305, rs6798931) in children (Melén et al., 2010); DGKδ (rs1550532): bone mineral density (O'Seaghdha et al., 2013); and DGKι (rs161339): obesity/body mass index (Laramie et al., 2009; Table 1). Here, DGKD is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
