In fact, we previously demonstrated that the rs738409 GG genotype of PNPLA3 significantly increased the risk of NAFLD in our cohort (adjusted OR = 2.25, 95% CI: 1.46–3.45 for GG genotype vs CC genotype; P = 0.001)30.However, in the present study, we did not find any joined effects between PNPLA3 rs738409 and SREBP1c polymorphisms on NAFLD (data not shown). The gene discussed is SREBF1; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
