Compared to those without asthma, subjects with asthma were more likely to have had a symptomatic episode of RSV bronchiolitis or other symptomatic lower respiratory illness before age 2 years old (9.3% vs 0.9%; or 55.4% vs 10.1%, respectively), but there was no significant difference in PAI-1 genotype. The gene discussed is SERPINE1; the disease is bronchiolitis.
